Filipino ‘netpreneurs’ launch local trust mark

By Jenalyn Rubio

Determined to promote integrity and reliability in the local e-commerce scene, Qartas Corporation, a group of experienced e-commerce practitioners, recently launched the “Sure Seal” trust mark, an online business verification service that aims to ensure the legitimacy of businesses behind local corporate Web sites.

Touted as the first local Web site verification system, Sure Seal is an online trust mark, the logo of which shall appear only on e-commerce Web sites that have undergone and completed the business verification process.

While most trust marks are SSL (secure sockets layer) and PCI (payment card industry) certifications, these only ensure data security encryption and do not verify if the company behind a Web site is a legitimate entity. What Sure Seal ensures is that e-commerce customers are buying from credible businesses, said Qartas chief operating officer Gerel Roa.
